How to Make Your Website Discoverable by Google?

Congratulations in making your own website. After pouring hours of your blood and sweat to research and investigation, it is now ready to hit the World Wide Web.
But it is not as simple as ready, set , go. So, what does it take to show your site on Google?
Let’s see if your ready.

How will Google discover your Work of Art?

Answer: Googlebot.
It is Googles web crawling bot, sometimes also called a “spider”. G, uses
super set of computers to crawl billions and billions of pages  on the web. Googlebot uses an algorithm process: computer programs determine which sites to crawl, how often and how many pages to fetch from each site.
G now will discover your new pages within your sitemap and crawl the content and possibly  list the page within search results.
If your content is still not listed, you should create a sitemap that can be submitted to Google.

Google Vs. Yahoo.
How long does it take to make your Site Discoverable
According to research, Google took 1,375 minutes to crawl and Yahoo took 1773 minutes. In other words, it will take almost a day to crawl your content.
Also, if it’s a new website or your just simply adding new set of pages , you must initiate an updated sitemap. Base on the same study, it took for a bot to visit the page 14 minutes compared to Yahoo which is 245 minutes later.

So, How Can I submit my Website to Google?

1.      If it’s a new website, you may authenticate your site in Google Search Console.

2.      If your just updating your site and adding a new set of pages, then you should submit an updated sitemap.

Steps in submitting your sitemap:

  • Log in to Google Search Console
  • Crawl Tab
  • Sitemaps.

Once done, Google can now begin the process of  crawling.
